Proposal photographed and planned by John Ruddock somewhere along the Big Sur coast. What a wild scene!

“John was at the agreed on location on time, he was great at contacting me right away to find out details about what I was looking for in my photos. I had a rough idea about certain aspects of what I wanted and he was awesome at making professional suggestions which made the whole event easy and fun! He was very good at making me and my fiancé feel comfortable which was huge because my fiancé does not like taking pictures but was very happy with the whole experience! Excellent job.”

“John did an amazing job photographing my proposal. From helping me select a beautiful, secluded location to getting the incredible shots of the event. The pictures turned out great and he got them to us very quickly. He was also very responsive which was reassuring in an otherwise stressful situation. I would highly recommend him for your event.”

“John was incredibly knowledgable and helpful! In the weeks leading up to the shoot, he was collaborative with locations and plans, kept an eye on the weather, and was incredibly accessible for all the planning. On the day of the shoot, John was very nice, super helpful and took amazing photos! We would strongly recommend John!”

A quick note

Please keep in mind that if you are thinking of shooting in a State Park or State Beach, those locations require a permit to legally do our session there. I would need a 5 business day minimum notice to obtain the proper permit before our shoot and the State charges a fee. There is also no guarantee that they give me one as it is based on availability.

Lastly, Point Lobos Nature Reserve does not accommodate photography sessions.

FAQ

Do you do engagement sessions and Weddings Too?

Yes I do! Two of my all day wedding investments include them! Many happy couples book me to do their engagement and wedding photos as well. I think it’s important that the photos from your proposal through your wedding are consistent. Plus, after two shoots with me we’re basically going to be best friends going into your wedding, haha!

I see a picnic setup in some of your sample photos. Is this done by you and does this cost extra?

No, I do not set up picnics like you see in some of these photos. There are several local small business’s that can do these for you and they have their own pricing. Here are two businesses I highly recommend.

Something Special Picnics // Pillows And Picnics

Can we bring our pets?

I don’t recommend it because it becomes difficult to wrangle them and slows down your session drastically. This may lead to fewer photos overall. They can also get your clothing dirty (especially at the beach). Unless it’s very important for your animals to be in your photos I would leave them at home with some tasty treats!

Do you personally edit My Wedding Proposal photos?

I definitely do!

Do you Edit and Deliver every photo you take?

I will select all the best images and edit those only. You will not get images that are out of focus or have poor composition.

How will my final photos be delivered?

Your photos will be delivered through a beautiful online album that you can download from. You can also share this album with anyone.

Will I have access to the raw, unedited images?

No, I do not offer raw images to my clients because they only represent half of my work and may not reflect my best work. Think of raw photos like raw food. Other than sushi, would a chef ever serve you raw food? Of course not!

How long will it take to receive My final photos?

Delivery of final photos will be within 14 days although it’s usually sooner. This is dependent on how busy I am at the time.

What is required From Me to officially book with you?

To book your wedding proposal photography with John Ruddock there is a 50% retainer as well as an agreement signed by both parties.

What is your cancellation policy?

The 50% retainer also serves as the cancellation fee. If High Orbit Media cancels, the 50% retainer will be returned.
